At least five policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, were allegedly attacked by a mob protesting against an anti-land grabbing campaign in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Saturday, officials said.

An operation to demolish an illegal place of worship was launched in Nagri area of ​​Hiranagar, but was met with resistance from a group of locals, officials said.

They turned violent and attacked the police, leaving five policemen, including a deputy superintendent, injured.

Reinforcements were immediately dispatched to the area to restore peace and order, officials said.
