Man attacked by his girlfriend’s family

Ahmedabad: A man was attacked and stabbed by his girlfriend’s family over their relationship in Gheekanta on Tuesday night. Kartik Chauhan, 28, a garment dealer from Gheekanta, stated in his FIR with Kalupur police that he was in a relationship with Janvi Chauhan, 24, a resident of the same locality, for the past one year. On Tuesday, she called him from home and asked him to take her away. Kartik rushed to her residence and while they were talking, her father Jagdish started abusing Kartik. When Kartik objected, he was allegedly attacked. Janvi’s brother Karan and her mother Priya also joined in the attack. While Janvi’s parents attacked him with a stick and a baseball bat, Karan pulled out a knife and slashed his back. Kartik escaped and reached Kalupur police station to file a complaint. Due to his injury, he was admitted to a hospital where a forensic case was initiated. Kalupur police on Thursday filed a complaint against Jagdish, Karan and Priya for grievous bodily harm, abusive conduct and abetment.
