COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A man wanted by the Columbus Division of Police was arrested in Toledo, a year and a half after a man was found shot to death in north Columbus, the U.S. Marshal’s Office said in a news release.

Amira Reid, wanted for the murder of Juan Aleman, was arrested Thursday evening by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in the 400 block of Southgate Circle in Toledo.

The case, taken over by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), led investigators to Toledo after Reid was found to have fled the Columbus area. Police believe Reid is connected to the Jan. 9, 2023, incident, but did not provide any information about what led to the shooting or how Reid may have been involved.

Reid was wanted for the murder of Aleman, who was found with a gunshot wound in the 500 block of Riverview Drive in the Riverview neighborhood. Officers arrived at 10:15 a.m. and pronounced Aleman dead at the scene several minutes later.

A week later, police identified Aleman as the victim, but until recently there were few leads in the case. Reid was taken to the Lucas County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Columbus. He is charged with murder.
