State police request information on unsolved 1979 case in Westmoreland County

NEW KENSINGTON, Pennsylvania (KDKA) – An unsolved case from the late 1970s is once again the focus of the Pennsylvania State Police.

They are offering a $10,000 reward for new information about the 1979 murder of five-year-old girl Tiffany Miller.

The state police announced that new information had emerged in connection with the case and that they were again working to solve the case.

On Saturday, September 22, 1979, Miller was reported missing from her home in New Kensington by her mother. The mother said she was last seen at home on September 21, 1979, around 11 p.m., when she was put to bed.

When her mother went to check on her the next morning, she found that she had disappeared.

A week-long search ensued, and on Friday, September 28, 1979, her body was found in Allegheny River Locker No. 3 near Plum Borough.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pennsylvania State Police in Greensburg at 724-832-3288 and ask to speak to Trooper Drzal. You may also contact the Pennsylvania State Police Tip Line at 1-800-4PA-8477.

Callers with information may be eligible for a cash reward.
