Suspect arrested after stabbing near Dowagiac

SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Officers arrested the suspect in connection with a stabbing near Dowagiac after he was found in a driveway late Friday night.

At around 11 p.m., Cass County Sheriff’s Office officers were dispatched to Spring Lake Road after a woman reported that the suspect in a stabbing near Dowagiac was in her driveway.

Officers responding to the call found and arrested 28-year-old John Henry Coons of Dowagiac, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office had previously asked the public to be on the lookout for Coons after he allegedly stabbed a 73-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man.

The two older victims were taken to the hospital, while the 31-year-old victim did not seek medical treatment, according to the sheriff’s office. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
