DUT employee arrested for alleged rape of student

The attack is said to have taken place on Monday in her apartment on Quarry Road.

The suspected perpetrator is probably an employee of the residential complex.

“Police in Durban have arrested a 44-year-old man for rape after a 19-year-old student was allegedly raped by a man she knew,” said KZN police spokeswoman Thenjiswa Ngcobo.

The man appeared before the Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday.

In a statement, the DUT said it was fully cooperating with the police in the investigation.
