Shooting at supermarket in Arkansas leaves 2 dead and 8 injured

Two people were killed and eight others injured in a shooting at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on Friday morning, police said.

A gunman opened fire at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce in central Arkansas around 11:30 a.m., Arkansas State Police said in a statement.

The gunman, whose name was not released, was shot and seriously wounded by police before being taken into custody, police said.

Eight people were injured in the shooting, including a police officer. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The condition of the other injured is unknown.

Fordyce is located about 70 miles south of Little Rock, Arkansas.
