Flack Broadcasting – Lewis County resident fined after crash involving car and DPW worker in Lowville

LOWVILLE- According to authorities, no serious injuries were reported in the accident between a car and a worker in the village on Tuesday morning.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. while village DPW crews were working on Stowe Street.

According to an investigation by Lowville Police, a vehicle drove into the construction site and struck a worker, who was then thrown to the ground.

Members of the task force attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued driving.

Officers were able to capture a license plate number that helped police locate the suspected driver, 74-year-old Janise Markowski of Lowville, NY.

She received a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident after a personal injury, which must be repaid to the Lowville Municipal Court at a later date.

The DPW employee reportedly complained of pain in his lower extremities but remained at work throughout the day, authorities said.
