3-year-old child ejected from vehicle after driver hits power line in east Houston

HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating a tragic incident Tuesday evening in which a 3-year-old child was ejected from a vehicle in east Houston.

Details are limited as police have not been able to release much due to the ongoing investigation. What we do know, however, is that officers received a call shortly after 8:36 p.m. for a major fatality accident in the 8500 block of Cowart Street, near 610, in the area of Pleasantville.

That’s where authorities say a driver hit a power line, causing the toddler to be ejected from the vehicle and die on impact. It is unclear whether the child was wearing a seat belt or if he was in a car seat, nor is it known the relationship between the driver and the 3-year-old as of this writing.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

No additional information has been shared as of this writing, but an investigation is ongoing and KPRC 2 will be monitoring this story and providing updates as it develops.
