24-year-old man killed in shooting in Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) – A 24-year-old man is dead following a shooting in Danville on Tuesday, according to Danville police.

According to police, 22-year-old Richard Lee Wilson Jr. is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm in an inhabited building.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Woodside Village apartment complex in the 1300 block of Piney Forest Road at 10:49 p.m.

According to police, 24-year-old Tasean Delvecchio Farmer was found in an apartment with numerous gunshot wounds.

According to police, Farmer was taken to SOVAH Health, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident remains under investigation and police say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

Police say Wilson is in custody in North Carolina after fleeing the scene.
