According to police, Philadelphia 76ers guard Cameron Payne was arrested in Arizona

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia 76ers point guard/shooting guard Cameron Payne was arrested Friday in Scottsdale, Arizona, in connection with a disturbance and later released, Scottsdale police said.

Payne, 29, was arrested and booked into the Scottsdale Jail. He faces charges including refusing to give his real name and making false statements to police.

Police told CBS News Philadelphia on Friday afternoon that officers responded to a disturbance in the area of ​​68th Street and Chaparral Road around 2:44 a.m.

Authorities contacted two people, one of whom later identified Payne and took him into custody.

The reason for the disruption is unknown.

Payne recorded 6 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists in his last appearance with the Sixers, a 118-115 loss to the New York Knicks in the Easter Conference playoffs.

With his contract set to expire at the end of June, he will soon be a free agent.
