Nina Dobrev talks about bicycle accident and knee surgery

Nina Dobrev has revealed that she underwent knee surgery following a dirt bike accident that required her to wear a neck brace. According to the actress, she enjoys watching “Fargo,” cuddling with her pets and taking leg selfies during her recovery.

In a January interview, Dobrev said she and White keep their relationship fresh by taking turns scheduling weekly date nights.

Nina Dobrev first announced her accident on Instagram in May and received support from her co-stars and boyfriend Shaun White.

In a recent episode of “The Talk,” Dobrev discussed the bike accident that led to her surgery and revealed that she “actually left the house for the first time in over two months.”

“I had knee surgery and got a huge orthosis. I can’t really walk on my own yet… I had a broken knee and had to have a cruciate ligament and a meniscus operated on,” she said according to People Magazine.

When asked about the cause of her injury, the 35-year-old explained that she was “riding a dirt bike for the first time and it didn’t go well.”

Dobrev recalled her experience: “I don’t recommend that, guys. It’s okay, I learned my lesson: never get on a dirt bike. I had a wheely, lost control, the whiskey hit the gas, the bike flew away.”

She added: “Luckily it didn’t fall on me, which the doctor said would have been much worse. But when I landed, I landed on one leg, straight, and my knee was like broken.”

In her interview, Dobrev expressed her joy at finally being able to leave the house and “have an excuse to dress up.”

The former “Vampire Diaries” actress mentioned that her recovery routine included taking numerous leg selfies and cuddling with her pets.

“My life right now is all cuddles, just the puppies, and at home the daily schedule includes watching movies, physical therapy, eating, sleeping or peeing,” she said.

Dobrev also mentioned that she used her recovery time to watch “Fargo” on repeat, adding: “Fargo is what I’m watching right now. I called my agents. I love it, I’m so obsessed with the show and I was like, “You have to get me on this show.” And they said, “That’s from ten years ago, you’re too late.”

She also talked about an Instagram video she posted in early June showing her boyfriend Shaun White dancing in a white “Vampire Diaries” sweater.

“You know, when you can’t leave your bedroom, you either watch TV or enjoy live entertainment. That’s my live entertainment,” she joked. People.

Dobrev first revealed her bike accident in an Instagram post on Monday, May 20. The post featured a photo of her next to a bike and another of her in a hospital bed with the caption, “How it started vs. how it continues.”

In her Instagram stories, the “Originals” actress shared a selfie from her hospital bed along with the message: “I’m doing well but the road to recovery lies ahead of me.”

Several of Dobrev’s TVD co-stars left encouraging messages in the comments section of her post. Kayla Ewell wrote, “The hospital gown is becoming the new spring trend. Love you! You’re handling this like a champ!” Claire Holt commented, “No, I’m so sorry! Get well soon.”

Dobrev’s longtime friend Shaun White also showed his support, posting a photo to his Instagram stories of Dobrev on a private plane after her release from the hospital, with her leg elevated and a knee brace. He tagged her and added three red hearts to the photo.

Dobrev’s accident occurred after White praised her snowboarding skills in an interview with EHR! Message.

Speaking to the news agency, White raved about how good his girlfriend is, noting: “She’s really good on the board.

He added: “She grew up in Canada. So it was nice because that’s definitely a make or break relationship sometimes. Not if they can’t ride, but there have been people who have come with me and that didn’t end well because sometimes I’m not the best trainer.”

In an interview in January with People, Dobrev talked about how she and her boyfriend White keep their relationship fresh by having a weekly date night.

The “Bricklayer” star said she and the former professional snowboarder and skateboarder take turns planning their dates.

“In general, I’m more of a planner. Yes, I like a schedule and I definitely like plans. I’m a Capricorn, so that’s a big part of my personality,” she explained. “But we’ve implemented something that I think is really cool. We have a date night every week and we take turns (with the planning).”

She continued, “One week I plan it and he has no idea what we’re doing, so it’s a surprise to him. And the following week he plans it and it’s a complete surprise to me. And we do that every week.”

The “Outlaws” actress added that this approach “kind of keeps things exciting and interesting and gives us both time to spend together.”
