To update: Following a joint investigation by the 86th Airlift Wing security forces and German police, it has been confirmed that the incident, which occurred on June 12, 2024, at the KMCC Mall on Ramstein Air Base, was not hostile in nature and no criminal activity was involved. The individual involved has since been released. The KMCC Mall remains secure and open during normal business hours to ensure the safety and convenience of all visitors. Initial release: On Wednesday, June 12, at 3:57 p.m. Central European Time, a civilian employee brandished a knife in the Base Exchange at Ramstein Air Base. The suspect was detained by security forces and is currently in custody. There are no reports of injuries related to the incident. The investigation is currently ongoing and more information may be released as it becomes available. The area is secured and the KMCC Mall remains open to the public.
