One dead after police chase

WISE COUNTY, Virginia (WYMT) – One person is dead following a police chase in Wise County.

According to police, the pursuit began in Hazard and led to the Kentucky-Virginia state line.

After the vehicle crossed the state line on U.S. Highway 23, Wise County Sheriff’s Office officers began pursuit.

According to police, during the chase the car crossed the median and drove against the direction of traffic.

The chase reportedly ended in an accident that left one person dead and four people, including the suspect, hospitalized.

Police said charges are still pending while the investigation is ongoing.

The identity of the suspect and the person killed has not been disclosed.
