Man drowned at Fort Loudoun State Historic Park in Vonore, Tennessee

VONORE, Tenn. (WATE) – A man has died after drowning at Fort Loudoun State Historic Park in Vonore.

Vonore Police said the drowning occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, and the body was recovered. At this time, police said the drowning appears to have been an accident, but the investigation is ongoing.


In addition to the VPD, several other agencies responded, including the Vonore Fire Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The state park announced on Facebook that it was temporarily closed at 6:21 p.m. on Tuesday. The park reopened at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
