Suspended RCCG Pastor Iluyomade resigns

Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the former Regional Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Region 20, has resigned from his pastoral duties.

His resignation came after he refused to serve a three-month suspension and accept a transfer to another parish in Ebute Meta.

According to Vanguard, a close confidant of the pastor has submitted his resignation to the RCCG board of directors, but it has not yet been accepted.

“Because he is currently serving a suspension, the Board of Directors has not accepted his resignation. The Council is not scheduled to meet until August, when the suspension ends. The Church has special resignation procedures for pastors of his status.”

It was also gathered that a section of RCCG members of City of David are encouraging Iluyomade to assume office.

Reliable information suggests that the Apapa family, an influential group within the RCCG, is making efforts to ensure that Pastor Iluyomade continues in office.

“The Apapa family is known to collaborate with the government and public sector institutions on charitable projects in the areas of healthcare, education, infrastructure, citizen welfare and capacity building,” the source explained.

“Whether their intentions are selfish, similar to how they persuaded Pastor Ituah Ighodalo to resign and assume office, only God knows.”

Recall that Pastor Iluyomade was transferred from RCCG Region 20 following controversy over the celebration of his wife’s birthday while the church was mourning the death of Herbert Wigwe, former CEO of Access Bank.
