Father’s Day Weather in Atlanta | Heat wave expected

Highs will be near record highs by the end of the week.

ATLANTA — We’re now enjoying low humidity and comfortable mornings, but we’re turning up the heat this week! A summer heat wave will bring north Georgia its hottest temperatures of the year so far.

A ridge of high pressure is strengthening over the western United States, and this ridge of heat will gradually move eastward over the next few days.

High temperatures rise to near 90° by Wednesday then climb into the mid-90s for the end of the week and the weekend. Average temperatures for this time of year in Atlanta are in the mid to high 80s.

We are going to flirt with records:

  • Friday: forecast – 95°, record – 96°
  • Saturday: forecast – 96°, record – 99°
  • Sunday: forecast – 93°, record – 98°

Much of the country will be in turmoil. High temperatures will be above average in the United States

Various heat alerts were issued across the western United States from Tuesday through Thursday, and more may be added as the heat wave intensifies.

No heat alerts here as temperatures and humidity are expected to remain below heat advisory criteria.

Thanks to rain, some relief from the heat is possible in the Atlanta area early next week, but our long-range forecast brings much of the same. The 8-14 day temperature forecast likely shows warmer than average temperatures.
