Boston police make arrest in connection with Marlborough Street burglary – NBC Boston

A burglar frightened a Back Bay resident as she was going to sleep Friday night and then stole jewelry from the home in the upscale Boston neighborhood, police said.

The man was eventually arrested as he hid in the bushes down the street, Boston police said. Officers reportedly found the woman’s jewelry, money and personal belongings, which were returned to her.

The incident occurred at a home on Marlborough Street on Friday night, police said Sunday. The resident said she discovered a stranger in her home as she was about to go to bed and then ran down the stairs in fear.

According to police, she told officers she believed the man ran upstairs and escaped through a rooftop patio. She was able to describe the man and his backpack.

According to police, while searching for the burglar, officers discovered an open window in a nearby building that was under construction. Inside they found a backpack that matched the burglar’s description.

Officers then found a man matching the description of the burglar lying in the bushes with a screwdriver nearby, police said. He was arrested and identified as George Correa, a 46-year-old from Dorchester.

According to police, he had nine oxycodone tablets with him and was charged with burglary, drug possession and theft, among other things.

Correa was scheduled to face charges in Boston Municipal Court. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could comment on his arrest.
