Investigations into weapons threat lead to brass knuckles and loaded Glock

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police say tracking down people involved in a frightening incident Tuesday led to the arrest of two men last night.

On Wednesday, shortly after 5:30 p.m., New Rochelle detectives spotted a vehicle at D’Onofrio Field that was believed to have been used in an incident involving a handgun the previous day. When investigators approached the vehicle to question the driver, they spotted brass knuckles clearly visible inside the vehicle. The vehicle’s license plate was registered to another vehicle, according to police.

The driver was arrested. A search of the vehicle revealed a 9mm Glock pistol with 17 rounds in an extended magazine. At this time, the passenger in the car was also arrested.

Investigators said they were able to confirm the driver’s involvement in the June 4 threat and have filed additional charges for that incident.

Both the driver, Jadon Zakai Cappas, 20, of the Bronx, and the passenger, Daniella Ronas, 21, of New Rochelle, were charged with aggravated possession of a weapon and aggravated possession of an ammunition feeding device. Cappas was also charged with minor possession of a weapon, menacing and aggravated possession of a weapon in a second district.
