Activist committee: Up to 100 dead feared in attack on Sudanese village

“Up to 100” people were killed in a paramilitary attack on a village in central Sudan, a local committee of pro-democracy activists said on Thursday.

The Rapid Support Forces, which have been at war with the regular army since April 2023, “attacked the village twice with heavy artillery” on Wednesday, said the Madani Resistance Committee, one of hundreds of similar grassroots groups in Sudan, adding that they were “awaiting a confirmed number of dead and injured” from Wad al-Noura in Al-Jazira state.
