Doctors amputate an electrical contractor’s arms after an accident while restoring power in East Texas

An East Texas man is recovering from a horrific accident he suffered while working to restore power following devastating storms in the region.

When DeWayne Cantrell recently suffered shock in Cherokee County northwest of Lufkin, doctors had to amputate his arms.

Cantrell is a lineman and was part of an army of utility workers who helped restore power after the storms in East Texas.

His daughter has set up a GoFundMe account and says her father is doing well but will need more surgeries.

Tammy Cantrell calls him a loving father of three children and seven grandchildren and thanks everyone for their prayers.

GoFundMe contribution:

“This is for my dad. He was badly burned while working on power lines in East Texas. He lost both arms but is stable. He will need a lot of surgeries and rehab. Anything helps. Thank you all. He is a loving husband and father of three and has seven grandchildren. Thank you all again for your prayers. Pray for us during this time.” – Tammy Cantrell
