Kevin Brace, bail bondsman, killed in Sacramento jail

Police were called early Monday morning to a robbery on I Street. The motive is unknown.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento police have identified the man killed in an attack on I Street near the county jail early Monday morning.

According to police, the victim was 56-year-old Kevin Brace, a longtime employee of Greg Padilla Bail Bonds.

On Monday morning, police were called to a robbery in the 500 block of I Street. When they arrived, they found Brace with significant injuries, but he later died at the scene.

Detectives arrested the suspect, 38-year-old Jacob Mandell, at the scene. He was then booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of murder.
