Two dead in accident in Marinette County

GROVER, WI – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Marinette County on Sunday.

Sheriff Randy Miller says it happened around 1 p.m. on County Highway B at the intersection with County Highway W in the town of Grover.

A vehicle driven by Scott Mathis, 46, of Pembine, was traveling southbound on W when he failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign. His vehicle struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Elysia Kust, 44, of Coleman, Wisconsin. Both she and her passenger – 73-year-old Mary Kust of Coleman – suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Inattentive driving and failure to stop at a stop sign appear to be factors in the incident, which remains under investigation.
