Westchester man convicted of sexually abusing two teenagers

WHITE PLAINS – A Port Chester man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing two teenagers in separate attacks in Rye.

Richard Olmino, 22, pleaded guilty on April 1 to felony sexual abuse and criminal conduct.

He was also sentenced to 20 years of probation after release and was required to register as a sex offender.

On June 23, 2023, at approximately 12 p.m., Olmino asked a 16-year-old girl jogging in Rye Town Park for help. He then took her phone and threw it at the adult as she tried to run away. He then told the victim that he had a knife before sexually assaulting her.

A park security guard interrupted the attack and Olmino fled. Police found his cell phone at the scene.

DNA evidence from the incident linked him to another incident that occurred on Parsons Street in Rye on June 3, 2023. At approximately 1:35 a.m. that morning, he approached an 18-year-old woman walking home from an after-prom party, asked for help, then took her cellphone and threatened her before sexually assaulting her.

Rye City Police arrested Olimo at his Port Chester home on June 25, 2023, after police identified and located him using his cellphone with assistance from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and the FBI’s Westchester Safe Streets Task Force.

Olimo has two warrants out for his arrest in Connecticut, including one for public nuisance, and a criminal case pending in Suffolk County. He has been held in custody at the Westchester County Jail since his arrest.
