70 arrests after pro-Palestinian group occupied Israeli consulate in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — According to police, dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested in San Francisco on Monday.

“Officers had reasonable suspicion to arrest 70 suspects who refused to exit the building,” San Francisco police said. “No injuries were reported in the incident.”

Shortly after 9 a.m., protesters occupied the ground floor of the Israeli consulate in the Pacific Northwest in San Francisco’s financial district.

A new video shows dozens of police in riot gear confronting chanting pro-Palestinian protesters at UC Santa Cruz.

Shortly after 9 a.m., protesters first posted photos on social media showing protesters holding banners reading: “Zionism kills” and “Genocide makes Jews less safe; not in my name!” Other protesters gathered on the street in front of the building.

According to police, the arrested protesters were taken to the county jail, charged with trespassing and subsequently released.

Although arrests have been made, the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Francisco Police Department at 415-575-4444.
