Rape: Man arrested for raping 30-year-old woman in Chunabhatti hotel | News from Bhopal

Bhopal: A 25-year-old man allegedly befriended a 30-year-old businesswoman from Delhi and raped her for about two years on the pretext of marriage in a hotel in Chunabhatti. The accused was even engaged to her. When the accused refused to marry the woman, she approached Chunabhatti police and filed a complaint. Police said that the complainant, a 30-year-old woman, hails from Delhi. Her father is deceased and she lives with her mother. She runs a dry fruit business. She often came to Bhopal to visit her relative, a resident of Arera Colony. She claimed that in 2022, when she came to Bhopal, she met the accused Prashant, who hails from Raisen district and lived alone in Bhopal. He has an MBA degree and owns an earth moving machine which he runs on contract. They met through a common friend and the accused became friends with her. He raped her in a hotel in Chunabhatti area where he had invited her for a meeting. When she protested, the accused promised to marry her. He even got formally engaged to her in the presence of family members. Recently, the accused refused to marry her. Feeling cheated, she reported the incident to Chunabhatti police and filed a complaint. Further investigation was initiated.
