Cause of White County house fire under investigation

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a house fire that broke out in White County Sunday afternoon.

According to Public Safety Director David Murphy, firefighters responded to the fire at 711 Old HK Wagon Road around 3:30 p.m. on June 2. When crews arrived, they saw flames coming from the left main floor and the second floor of the home.

Murphy says the White County Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames with mutual aid from the Cleveland and Lee Arrendale fire departments.

The fire was confined to the downstairs laundry area and the attic. Smoke damage was reported throughout the house.

According to officials, no one was home at the time of the fire.
