Man arrested after threatening to shoot three people

West Plains, Missouri. – A man was arrested after threatening to shoot three victims outside US Cellular in West Plains, Missouri.

On May 22, 2024, a West Plains Police Department officer was stopped by three victims who reported that Mason Harris, a West Plains resident, pointed a small dark or black firearm at them out the window, saying, “He wasn’t afraid to shoot them.” They claimed that this encounter occurred in the parking lot of US Cellular.

An officer arrived at the scene and made contact with Mason Harris. When asked if he had recently threatened anyone with a firearm, Harris stated he had not, but that he had a handgun in his vehicle. Harris refused to consent to search his vehicle for the firearm. He was then detained for 24 hours.

West Plains police further interviewed the three victims. They told police that Harris seemed upset that one of the victims was at Sonic and then followed him to US Cellular.

On May 23, 2024, a search warrant was obtained for Harris’ vehicle, where a handgun, magazine, and several rounds of ammunition were found. Harris was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and fourth-degree assault. He is being held on $10,000 bail.
