FBI and Salem Police Investigate Three Armed Bank Robberies in Salem

SALEM, Oregon – Following a series of armed bank robberies in Salem, the Salem Police Department (SPD) is now working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Portland, Salem police said.

On May 21, the first robbery occurred at the Valley Credit Union at 2096 Mission Street Southeast. The second robbery occurred at the Chase Bank at 5135 Commercial Street Southeast. The third robbery occurred on May 28 at the Key Bank at 1500 Edgewater Street Northwest, according to the SPD.

Salem police said in each robbery, a man pointed a gun and demanded money from the bank teller. He fled with varying amounts of cash, but no one was injured in any of the robberies.

According to Salem police, detectives are working with the FBI on these cases and are trying to determine if there is a connection between the three robberies.

No further details have been released as the investigation is still ongoing.
