Two dead in nighttime fire in Bridgeville

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fatal fire.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 1, the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department and emergency crews arrived at a residence in the 16000 block of Atlanta Road.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw a single-family home on fire.

At the time the fire broke out, there were two people in the house who could not escape and unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.

Shortly before 4:15 a.m. the fire brigade managed to bring the fire under control.

Delaware State Deputy Fire Marshals arrived on scene as part of the Major Incident Response Team and are investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire is currently still being investigated.

The damage is estimated at $500,000.
