Cal Fire suspends burning permits Wednesday due to extreme heat warnings | News

Cal Fire will suspend all outdoor burning permits in residential areas within the agency’s Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit effective Wednesday as an extreme heat warning is in effect for the lower parts of the Sierra Nevada from Tuesday through Thursday.

“As the weather continues to get hotter and drier, lower and mid-elevation areas are experiencing conditions that are conducive to the spread of unwanted fires,” said Nick Casci, Cal Fire TCU Chief. “Residents can continue to work on their defensible space by using alternative disposal methods such as chipping or disposing of green waste through resources offered in their respective county.”
