Police identify woman killed in hit-and-run in Centereach

Police have identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run in Centereach as 73-year-old Marion Napolitano.

According to investigators, Napolitano was driving east on Middle Country Road near Dawn Drive Saturday evening when her vehicle was struck from behind. Her 50-year-old male passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the Land Rover car that hit Napolitano was stolen and driven by a 16-year-old boy who was high on drugs.

According to investigators, the teen attempted to escape but was arrested by an off-duty Suffolk County police officer.

The teenager faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, possession of stolen property and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. His name has not been published due to age reasons.
