Gun-wielding man enters Ranchi bar and shoots DJ; incident caught on CCTV | India News

A DJ working at a club in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, was shot dead at point-blank range by a man apparently carrying a sophisticated rifle. No one has been arrested so far in the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday.

The DJ, whom police identified only by his first name Sandeep, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A video with a time stamp of 1:18 a.m. on Monday shows a naked man covering his face with a T-shirt, walking toward the DJ and pointing the gun at him. He then fires the gun at point blank range, causing Sandeep to walk to a corner and fall to the ground. The accused then walks out the door. A sign reading “Xtreme Sports Bar” can be seen in the background.

According to police, the man and his friends had consumed alcohol in the bar a few hours earlier and an argument broke out with the staff, including the DJ.

Chandan Kumar Sinha, SSP of Ranchi, said, “So far, we know that the man and his friends got into a fight in the bar. Employees told us that they were misbehaving while dancing and were repeatedly asked to calm down. We have detained some people and are questioning them. We will identify the person and arrest him soon.” Police also said they will ascertain the details of the weapon after the arrest.
