Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A murder accused and his brother, out on bail, sustained serious injuries after they were attacked with a hammer at Padali Vadgavhan village in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district on Wednesday night, allegedly to avenge the murder. Police identified the injured as murder accused Dnyaneshwar Bande (30) and his brother Maruti (34). Based on a complaint filed by Maruti, Bidkin police filed a charge of attempt to murder and criminal intimidation against the attackers on Thursday night. Bidkin police station comes under Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar rural police. According to police records, a dead body with severed head was found near Kachner-Padli road on January 20, 2023. The then Paithan sub-divisional police officer Vishal Nehul and his team identified the deceased as Sandip Gaikwad after investigation. Further investigation led to the arrest of Sainath Gaikwad and Dnyaneshwar gang. After spending a few months behind bars, the accused was released on bail about five months ago. After getting bail, the murdered man’s family was seething with anger and had openly expressed their intention to avenge the brutal murder, police said. Police said the murdered man’s brother Nitin and his cousin Dilip reached Padli where Dnyaneshwar and his brother were standing on the roadside on May 22 evening.
