Two men face weapons charges after allegedly pointing guns at their victim during a driving aggression incident

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri (KMIZ)

Two men have been charged in Cole County after allegedly pointing weapons at another person in a road rage incident on Thursday.

Robert M. Matthews, 41, of Jefferson City, was charged Friday with second-degree assault, illegal possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Michael John Skyler Libbert, 18, of Holts Summit, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

Both men are being held without bail in the Cole County Jail. Court dates have not yet been scheduled.

A press release from the Jefferson City Police Department also states that a juvenile was arrested. The juvenile was arrested and taken to the Prenger Juvenile Center pending transfer to juvenile authorities. No further information about him will be released, the press release states.

According to court documents, a shared communications call was made at 2:39 p.m. Thursday about two men in a white car pointing guns at the victim. At 3:40 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a white Chrysler sedan at the intersection of Country Club Drive and West Truman Boulevard.

According to court documents, Matthews was the passenger and Libbert was the driver. According to court documents, police found three guns in the vehicle. Matthews allegedly admitted to pulling a gun from a backpack and pointing it at the victim, and Libbert allegedly admitted to brandishing an AR-15, court documents say.
