Jeremy Renner has made a heartbreaking admission about his recovery after being seriously injured in a snow plow accident.

In the accident in January 2023 avenger The actor was rushed to hospital where he initially recovered from the catastrophic injuries he sustained.

These included fractures of eight ribs, multiple fractures of both legs, the right shoulder, the lower jaw and the eye socket.

The actor even talked about how after the accident he could see his other eye, and not in the mirror.

Renner miraculously recovered from his injuries and even returned to acting almost a year later, in December 2023.

At first, the actor believed he would live as a “backbone and brain,” but he has now regained sight in both eyes and is mobile.

But despite his remarkable recovery from the accident, Renner has made a heartbreaking admission about his long-term future following his injuries.

The actor said he had accepted that his injuries were so severe that he would have to live with them in some form for the rest of his life.

He told PEOPLE: “I’ve had to accept it for the rest of my life. Nothing will be normal or the way it was before the accident. By the way, I’m OK with it. It makes my life better. I’m healthier because of it.”

Although it was extremely difficult for him to admit this to himself, Renner said it was an important step on the road to his recovery.

He added: “I can focus more on my health and well-being than ever before because I have to.

“The recovery will take as long as it takes to get out of this old hot body mess. For me, it was a way to really accept that it’s going to be like this forever.”

Renner recalled: “I wasn’t in the room. (My physical therapist) said what I didn’t want to hear, which was, ‘This is going to last forever.'”

“So I pulled myself together, head up, let’s go. Let’s go. That’s how we do it. We just change the perspective and let it go.

“At least I enjoy wellness and the fact that I take care of myself, for the most part. I think that’s a pretty good thing.”

Renner had previously stated that he was very lucky not to have been alone when the accident happened.

He said: “If I had been alone, it would have been a horrible death. And that would certainly have been the case. Certainly.”

“But I wasn’t alone. (I was with) my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the cavalry came.”
