SEVERN, Md. – On May 6, 2024, at approximately 12:55 p.m., an Anne Arundel County patrol officer observed a speeding vehicle on Annapolis Road near Reece Road in Severn and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled and the officer gave up the pursuit. Shortly thereafter, an emergency call reported an accident on Jessup Road.

Investigators determined the vehicle, a Lexus IS 350, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Jessup Road when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and crashed into a vacant home.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Trayquan Edward Mckesson of Odenton, was taken to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center along with four passengers with serious injuries. Another passenger was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

One of the passengers, Julie Michelle Nushawg, 26, of Pasadena, later died at the trauma center. The condition of the remaining passengers is serious.

Now a GoFundMe page has been set up to help Nushawg’s family with unexpected funeral costs.

“We are all shocked, devastated in disbelief and saddened by the recent news of Julie’s sudden and tragic death. She was a young, amazing mother of a nine-year-old daughter named De’ Layah, who we hold very dear, and she is not taking her mother’s death very well,” Angelic Powell said on the GoFundMe page.

“Due to the circumstances of her death, there will be unexpected funeral costs. We want to give Julie the memorial she deserves to honor her memory and say our final goodbyes. I’m asking for donations to cover the costs. Prayers for her daughter, family and close friends are also appreciated. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to do both.”

With the support of the community, the fundraiser has so far raised just over $2,000.
