The Northern Lights are visible in parts of Southeast Texas tonight, for real – Space City Weather

In short: If you have clear skies and minimal light pollution, look north for a chance to see the Northern Lights (or Northern Lights) here in Southeast Texas.

We will keep it brief. A massive, not to mention historic, solar storm has unleashed a barrage of solar flares towards Earth. These arrived today, the strongest solar storm in at least 20 years to hit us. We have seen reports all over Europe of visible auroras. Not just visible… VISIBLE. These reports have now spread across the United States, with much of Georgia, parts of Mississippi, Mobile, AL and now Pinehurst, The Woodlands and Lake Conroe reporting aurora.

The aurora can be fickle, so there’s no guarantee you’ll see them everywhere tonight, and certainly not in the city of Houston, where the light pollution is probably too much to overcome. However, if you have the means and time to get out and look north, this could be a unique opportunity here in Southeast Texas. Please send us photos if you can.
