Police identify Goshen teenager killed in Elkhart County car crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office has officially identified the 14-year-old Goshen boy killed in a car crash in northeast Elkhart County over the weekend as Aidin Mathieu.

According to officials, the accident occurred shortly after 4:45 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of State Road 120 and County Road 35 north of Middlebury.

Several witnesses told police that Mathieu was traveling south on County Road 35 on a 2023 Honda XR150LE dirt bike when he failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a double-deck car carrier being pulled by a semi-trailer traveling west on State Road 120.

Mathieu was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a Facebook post from Middlebury Community Schools, he was an incoming freshman at Northridge High School.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the other vehicle involved in the crash to call 574-533-4151 and reference case number 24004117.
