CORCORAN, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man incarcerated at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is under investigation after another incarcerated man was found dead on Sunday, July 28.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., officers found 21-year-old Shawn G. Jackson unconscious. Medical personnel were reportedly called to assist, life-saving measures were administered, and Jackson was transported by ambulance to an outside medical facility.

Officials said Jackson’s death was pronounced at Adventist Medical Center in Hanford, nearly an hour later than he was originally found dead.

According to officials, the investigation found that Jackson had been so abused that he lost consciousness.

The investigation revealed that 31-year-old Jarvis Richerson was responsible.

According to authorities, Jackson was transferred from Orange County on September 20, 203 to serve a four-year prison sentence for pimping before his death.

Richerson was originally admitted in July 2015, but was out several times before finally being sentenced to 8 years in prison in December 2023 for rape with violence, assault and assault with a firearm.
