Man from Pocahontas dies in car and motorcycle accident

A Pocahontas man died this weekend when a car collided with a motorcycle in Kossuth County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred today (Sunday) around 1 p.m. east of Algona. A 17-year-old from Ackley was driving a compact car south on 160th Avenue. The teenager ignored a stop sign and was struck by a motorcycle traveling west on Highway 18. The motorcycle was driven by 42-year-old Adam Allen of Pocahontas.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 17-year-old, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by rescue helicopter to Mercy One Medical Center in Mason City.
