1 dead, 6 hospitalized after accident on I-25 near Larkspur | Traffic

According to a press release from the Colorado State Patrol, one motorist died and six others were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near Larkspur.

Police were notified of the accident at around 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, the State Patrol said. When emergency crews arrived at the scene near mile marker 171 on the north side of the interstate, they found that six vehicles were involved in the crash. Seven occupants were taken to area hospitals, one of whom was pronounced dead after leaving the scene.

Authorities say the deceased driver was a man. His name has not been released pending official identification by the Douglas County Coroner.

Northbound traffic was detoured from I-25 at Exit 167.

“This will be an extended closure and no timeframe for reopening is known,” the press release said.

On Sunday afternoon, investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
