3 Ponchatoula teens arrested for animal cruelty after viral video, TPSO says

One of the boys was charged with animal cruelty. The other two were each charged with one count of animal cruelty.

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, Louisiana – Three Ponchatoula teenagers have been arrested in connection with a video circulating online showing dog abuse, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The three boys are 15 years old. Officials said they became aware of the video “circulating on social media showing a man abusing a dog, apparently on a hunting trip,” the press release said.

Deputies said a second boy filmed the incident while a third was present, and neither attempted to stop the abuse.

Then investigators discovered that the video had been recorded in the Manchac area last year. Authorities obtained arrest warrants for the teens and all three were found in their homes.

TPSO said the dog in the video was also found and examined and was found to be “in good health and cheerful spirits” at this time.

One of the boys was charged with animal cruelty. The other two were each charged with one count of animal cruelty.
