Ex-boyfriend arrested for murder of pregnant Loganville teenager

The ex-boyfriend of the seven-months pregnant Loganville teenager who was killed just over a week ago has been charged with first-degree murder, premeditated murder, feticide and aggravated assault.

At around 1 a.m. on July 15, officers responded to the 3600 block of Stephens Road in Loganville after the family of 16-year-old Mia Campos called 911 to report that they had found her body just off the road.

The family informed officers that Campos had left the house with an unknown person the night before. When she did not return home, her family used a cellphone app to locate her.

Based on initial evidence at the scene, investigators were unable to determine how Campos died. Detectives, crime scene investigators and the medical examiner examined the scene and interviewed witnesses. After an autopsy on July 16, the medical examiner concluded that Campos died by homicide.

On July 17, investigators arrested Campos’ ex-boyfriend Jesus Monroy for making false statements to a police officer.

On July 23, investigators charged Monroy with first-degree murder, premeditated murder, feticide and aggravated assault.

Police have not released any further information about Monroy or his possible motive.
