6-year-old loses hand in fireworks accident in Broward County

DEERFIELD BEACH, Florida. – A 6-year-old boy was hospitalized Tuesday after losing his hand in a fireworks accident, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael B. Kane confirmed in an email to Local 10 News.

The accident was reported in the 600 block of Northwest First Terrace in Deerfield Beach.

Kane confirmed that emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the boy with “a complete hand amputation after a firework exploded.”

The boy was flown by helicopter to Broward Health Medical Center, Kane said.
