19-year-old Victoria Holland was hospitalized after a bicycle accident on Highway 273 in South Redding

REDDING, CA (May 10, 2024) – A 19-year-old woman suffered injuries in an electric bike accident on Highway 273 Thursday morning.

According to the Redding Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on May 9th. According to reports, a westbound electric bicycle was parked at a red light on the south side of the intersection.

The bike then crashed into the side of a southbound vehicle near Cedars Road.

The force of the collision caused the 19-year-old to be thrown out Victoria Holland from her bike. She was reportedly not wearing a helmet.

Emergency responders transported Holland to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

The driver of the vehicle has now been identified as a 64-year-old Denise JohnsonHe remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Redding police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Officials will release more information as it becomes available.
