Traffic stop in Pecos County leads to seizure of significant amounts of methamphetamine and DEA investigation | Texas

IRAAN, Texas — According to the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Iraan resulted in the seizure of about a pound of suspected crystal meth.

On July 18, 2024, a Pecos County Deputy initiated the stop and observed signs of criminal activity, which led to the involvement of the Pecos County Detection Dog Unit. The Detection Dog Unit responded positively to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, which led to the discovery of the methamphetamine.

The male resident of Fort Stockton, Texas, was taken into custody by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The case remains under investigation and was a collaborative effort with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Division and the DEA, the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office said.
