Ashe County man arrested for multiple counts of sexual exploitation of minors

JEFFERSON, NC (WBTV) – An Ashe County man was arrested on multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation have launched a joint investigation into illegal Internet activity related to child exploitation in recent months.

The investigation ended on June 11, 2024, when the Sheriff’s Office and the SBI executed two search warrants in the Creston area. The search warrants resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old Carl Abbott Jr. and the seizure of several electronic devices.

The charges against Abbott Jr. include four counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and resisting arrest on a public official.
