A young mother says she was attacked and sexually assaulted while walking with her newborn baby in an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood.

Carmina Lu, a director at UCLA Health, was walking with her four-week-old baby in Brentwood on Tuesday when she was reportedly approached from behind by the suspect.

She told KTLA that the shirtless white man, who appeared to be in his twenties, “grabbed her by the hips with both hands and began to sexually assault her.”

As Lu attempted to defend herself, the suspect punched her in the face several times, leaving her with a split lip, cuts to her face, and a head injury that required staples.

“It was really horrible,” Lu told the local news station. “I never expected something like this to happen, especially a month after giving birth to such a beautiful baby.”

Lu added that her baby was unharmed, which was her biggest fear.

Neighbors responded to the situation after hearing Lu’s screams.

The suspect fled the scene and claimed that he touched the woman because there was a bee on her.

Other neighbors had previously had an encounter with the suspect, which was recorded on surveillance video.

The man was seen taking off his shirt and waving it around while saying he was cheering for Argentina in the Copa America, which had already ended on Sunday.

The suspect also reportedly said that his mother lived in the area and that he spoke Farsi and some Spanish.
