Accident involving semi-trailer blocks I-95

A truck driver was seriously injured in a one-car crash on I-95 at the 60 mile marker northbound on July 6. The tractor-trailer, loaded with agricultural products, left the shoulder of the interstate at a high rate of speed and lost control. The truck overturned, partially blocking I-95. Colleton County firefighters responded and extricated the male driver. He was treated at the scene and transported to the Colleton Medical Center helipad, where he was transported by CARE Flight helicopter to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Gerald’s Wrecker Service has cleared the truck from the roadway to open both lanes.
